Privacy Policy

Last updated October 1, 2026. Applies to the Wobble Box app for iPhone and iPad and to this website.

Wobble Box is made by Jeff Littell for children aged 4 to 12, so we built it to work without collecting anything. This page explains exactly what the app does on the device, and what the website list keeps. Wobble Box is built to the privacy standard Apple sets for apps made for children, and follows the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the European GDPR and its rules for children.

What we collect

From the app, nothing. We never receive any personal information, device identifier, usage data, location, contact details, photos or recordings from the app. We do not know who plays Wobble Box, how often, or what they make. We have no server for the app to talk to, and the app contains no code that uses the network.

What stays on your device

To remember what a child was building, the app keeps some files inside its own private storage on the device. We cannot see them, and they are never uploaded.

• Child profiles. Up to five per device. A profile is only an emoji face and a colour the child picks. There is no name, age, photo or typed text. Profiles are kept in a file in the app's private storage.
• Saved toys. The state of each toy (for example, a Brick Yard build) so it is waiting next time.
• The Fridge. Small pictures of what a child made, which the child can pin using the in-app camera button. These are snapshots of the toy's own screen, taken by the app itself. The app never uses your device camera and never saves to your Photos.
• Last look at each toy. When a child leaves a toy, the app keeps a small picture of how it looked, so a saved build can be shown on the Fridge. Like every picture, it stays on the device.
• Wonder Book. A private list of which little surprises this child has found.
• Kid Mode setting. A single on or off switch, kept in the app's settings, so the app reopens locked if you had locked it.
• Sensors and clock. The tilt sensor is read live so toys can roll when the device tilts, and the device clock is used for the evening and seasonal look of the playroom. Neither is stored or sent anywhere. The app also keeps the screen awake while a toy is open.

The microphone and voice clips

One feature uses the microphone: in Song Steps, a child can hold the microphone button to record their own voice so the animals can sing it back.

• The first time, iOS asks permission. The app makes a grown-up hold the button for about 1.5 seconds before that request appears, so a child cannot tap through it.
• The microphone is on only while the button is held down, for at most 2 seconds per recording. Nothing is ever recorded in the background or while the app is idle.
• The recording is saved on the device in that child's own profile folder, as a single clip that is replaced when they record a new one. It is never uploaded, shared, transcribed or analysed.
• You can stop microphone access at any time in iOS Settings, Privacy and Security, Microphone. Song Steps still works without it, and only the recording feature is unavailable.

Third parties

The app contains no third-party code: no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting or social media libraries. It has no in-app purchases and no links that open a browser. Nothing is shared with anyone because nothing is collected.

Deleting data

• A grown-up can delete a single child's profile in the app (turn Kid Mode off, hold your own face in the playroom corner for 1.5 seconds to reach the profile picker, hold the child's face for 1.5 seconds, then tap the red bin twice to confirm). This erases that child's toys, Fridge pictures and voice clip from the device.
• Deleting the app removes everything it stored on the device.
• If you back up your device with iCloud or a computer, Apple's backup may include the app's files, like any other app. That copy belongs to your own backup and is governed by Apple's terms and your settings. We do not have access to it.

Children

Wobble Box is intended for children and is designed so that we collect no personal information from them, which means there is nothing for a parent to review, correct or request deletion of on our side. If you have questions or think we have it wrong, please contact us.

This website and the email list

The wobblebox.app website has no cookies, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels and no embedded third-party content. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may process ordinary technical request data (such as IP address) to deliver pages and protect against abuse, under its own privacy policy. We do not use that data to profile visitors.

The one thing the website collects is an optional email list for grown-ups. It is separate from the app, and the app never touches it. If a parent signs up, we keep three things:

• the email address,
• the time of signup, and
• where on the website the signup happened (for example, the home page).

We use the address only to send news about Wobble Box. We do not sell it, share it or add anything else to it. The list is for adults, and we do not knowingly collect addresses from children. Every email carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops all further email. To have your address removed completely, email [email protected]. If you email us, we receive your email address and message, use them only to reply, and do not share them.

Changes to this policy

If the app ever changes what it does with data, we will update this page before the change ships and change the date above. We will never add tracking or advertising to Wobble Box.
